It's official. Ellen DeGeneres will be replacing Paula Abdul in the upcoming season of American Idol. Although fans hate to see the warm-hearted Paula leave the show, most are excited to welcome the outgoing Ellen to give her opinions on the contestant's talents.

DeGeneres is very excited about the opportunity and announced on twitter during her day time show that she would be the a judge on American Idol.

Critics are divided. Some think that Ellen is a great addition to the judge panel and others believe she may clash because her popularity.
